Pure essential oils are chosen specifically for you and any conditions you may be experiencing. Aromatherapy can be beneficial for such conditions are headaches, poor circulation, anxiety, muscle tension, cellulite and even emotional issues. At the end of your session you even get a custom oil blend and loofah so that you can continue the good work at home.
Abdominal Massage
The Toaist sages of ancient china observed that humans often develop energy blockages in their internal organs that result in knots and tangles in their abdomens. During this treatment specific massage techniques are used to detoxify and cleanse stagnant chi (energy) from the organs, skin, muscles and lymph of the abdominal area. Conditions that may benefit from this treatment are headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, loose bowels and lower back pain.
Castor Oil Pack
A warm linen cloth soaked in caster oil is placed over the abdomen then heat is applied for 45 to 60 minutes in order to allow the detoxifying qualities of the castor oil to affect the liver, gallbladder and other organs of the abdominal area. This treatment is used in conjunction with abdominal massage to further aid in the detoxification process.
Thai Massage
Thai medical massage is a unique form of bodywork that combines Hatha Yoga, Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. Dr. Jibaka Komaloboat, a doctor, friend and contemporary of the Buddha, founded Thai massage in Thailand over 2,500 years ago. As practiced today, Thai massage is a blend of massage styles and medical practices from throughout Asia.
In Thai medical massage, the practitioner positions the client in a series of yoga-like stretches that promote freedom of movement, energy flow and flexibility. The therapist releases tension from the client’s body using not only her hands, but also her feet, forearms, elbows and knees. During massage sessions, the client wears loose, comfortable clothes, and no oil is used.
Thai massage takes a holistic approach to treatment and is safe for clients of any age. The goal is to restore balance to the client’s mind, body, emotions and spirit through gently stretching and treatment of energy lines. Other benefits of Thai massage include:
- Relaxation
- Unblocking of energy flow
- Reduction of pain, swelling and muscle tension
- Improved circulation
- Increased flexibility
- Management of stress
- Heightened awareness
- Elimination of toxins due to physical, mental and emotional strain
- Increased feeling of well-being
In ancient Thailand, people visited temples regularly to receive massage as a means of relieving physical, mental and emotional strain. Today, Thai medical massage provides the most health benefits when received in a series of seven to ten sessions. Consecutive sessions allow the practitioner time to evaluate and treat the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. A brief description of the sessions is as follows:
Thai Massage: Seven Sessions
Session One: The Discovery Session
A whole body session that allows client and therapist to discover what areas of the body are holding tension. (1 hour)
Session Two, Three, Four and Five
In these four sessions, the practitioner focuses on different parts of the client’s body. The client spends different sessions in supine or side-lying positions. The therapist, through stretching, massage and compression, concentrates on the clients legs, hips, upper and lower back, neck, arms, hands, feet, abdomen, and chest. (Each session: 1 hour)
Session Six
The client begins the session in a supine position, but the majority of the work is conducted while the client is seated. The therapist focuses on the client’s neck and shoulder and face. (1 hour)
Session Seven: The Integration Session
In this final and longest session of the series, the therapist assesses the client’s needs and what progress has been made in previous sessions. She then conducts an in-depth, full body session with special focus on area’s that require the most attention. (2 hours)
